What is a CAFM?

A CAFM is a Computer Aided Facilities Management system. There is no hard definition around what constitutes CAFM as essentially any IT service can be considered a CAFM if it directly enables or supports a facilities management function. However, Facilities Managers commonly expect a CAFM to help them visualise, monitor, plan, and report on their physical spaces via workplace analytics. 

The benefits of a CAFM typically include the following:

1. Aligning an organization's real estate strategy with the wider business strategy
2. Improving sustainability outcomes and reducing costs and utilities spend
3. Assisting an organization with regulatory compliance. Both in terms of meeting planning regulations and via increased security and monitoring.
4. Improving the roll out of technologies throughout an organization.
